Blue Zoo, an interactive aquarium located in Rogers, is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable candidates to join our Educational Team. As a part of our team, you will play a vital role in providing our guests with a fun and educational experience. Our guests can touch and feed stingrays, birds, and reptiles, see sharks, clownfish, angelfish, and enjoy play equipment and water play tables. We also host events featuring mermaids, pirates, and dive shows.As an Educational Team Member, you will be responsible for educating and inspiring our guests, helping to open the aquarium, and ensuring that the register and gift shop are ready for guests. You will also be responsible for educating guests on the exhibits and animals in your area, answering questions in a knowledgeable manner, and providing a 5-star customer experience at all times.
Additional job duties include:

Selling tokens and annual passes to guests
Cleaning and sanitizing consistently throughout the day
Maintaining a safe and healthy atmosphere
Answering phones and assisting guests with questions, reservations, and bookings
Operating the cash register
Making sure the gift shop is ready for the following dayPlease note that this list is not exhaustive and you may be asked to perform additional tasks or duties by the Store Manager or Operations Manager at any given time.

Office Receptionist/Assistant

This is a full time position. Hourly compensation of $14.00.
This job deals primarily in customer service which includes but not limited to phones, live chat, emails, and at times, engaging with guests on social media. It requires attention to detail and a willingness to learn and complete tasks with proficiency and accuracy. It includes management of certain operational systems such as Clover, GoTo phone, TicketSpice and any others needed. It also includes tasks/projects given by the Operations Manager which includes but is not limited to pulling reports and data, attending meetings and taking notes, budget assistance as well as other things. Training will be provided.

The ideal candidate has:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • must have consistent access to a reliable computer and mobile device

Custodian/Janitor

Blue Zoo Aquarium is looking for an experienced individual for our janitorial team willing to work full time, that has a wide variety of skills and can help us to increase our facility’s efficiency. To become part of the Blue Zoo Team you will be required to do basic house cleaning such as, sweeping and mopping floors, using a ladder to dust light fixtures, exhibit signage, and shelving, taking out garbage and recycling, sanitizing sinks and removing salt water build up on walls. Communicating with on site management daily and checking in for new tasks is a must.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Comfortability with ladders & heights
  • Experience in basic cleaning practices and common use of various cleaning supplies and chemicals
  • Ability to maintain basic communication skills with both management and in a customer service atmosphere
  • Ability to finish tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain regular and consistent punctuality and attendance
  • Ability to perform basic essential functions of a job (I.E. standing 5+ hours, bending, reaching above head, lifting up to 25lbs)

Husbandry Butterflies

Position Summary: Provides care for all exhibit animals at the Blue Zoo butterfly flight house, maintaining containment while educating guests about the plants and animals inside the butterfly house.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Provides daily care for Butterflies at Blue Zoo animals including cleaning of habitats in exhibit area.
  • Provides daily husbandry for Butterflies and monitors their health and enrichment.
  • Ensures proper record keeping of daily husbandry, maintenance actions and animal health.
  • Maintains compliance for USDA regulated animals.
  • Upholds AZA standards and follows Blue Zoo animal policies.
  • Effectively communicates with direct supervisors, and other facilities that house and maintain butterflies
  • Directly communicates with staff for onsite needs and minor or emergency maintenance requests.
  • Helps implement trainings for staff
  • Works collaboratively with staff, problem solves and communicates within the team and when collaborating with other teams or departments.
  • Interacts with and provides educational information for guests of all ages visiting the butterfly house and uses live animals to demonstrate science-based concepts to guests.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Possesses or working towards a Degree in Biology or a related biological field or study.
  • Experience working with invertebrates or animals in a zoo, museum, or similar facility is desired.

  • Experience working in a non-formal education/museum/education setting and/or a customer service-based role.
