Blue Zoo hosts young boy battling cancer

Earlier in September, we were granted the amazing opportunity to host Corbin at our interactive aquarium for some early morning family fun. Who is Corbin you may ask? Corbin is a nine-year-old boy who has an immense love for sharks. Corbin is also battling an inoperable brain tumor.

As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has been exceptionally difficult for many of us, but even more so on families who have members who are immunocompromised or with preexisting conditions. At Blue Zoo, we are continuing to do our part to keep all of our guests and staff safe. When we learned of Corbin’s story, it tugged on our hearts. Corbin’s story hits close to home as our COO, Jon Hepworth, is a two-time cancer survivor. When he heard about Corbin, he immediately wanted to be able to do something meaningful for him.

We were elated to grant Corbin and his family the opportunity to visit the aquarium before opening hours so we could keep everything safe and clean for him. We wanted to make sure his experience at Blue Zoo Oklahoma City would be a happy, healthy, and unforgettable one.

We wish Corbin well as he continues his battle against brain cancer.
